I was commissioned to do a series of charcoal drawings for a psychiatric institution. The given guidelines had to do with the technique, not the content of the pieces. Working my way through the project, I decided to concentrate the series of drawings dwelling on the subject "balance". So in January 2008 I handed over nine charchoal drawings on white MDF-board. "Balance", in many ways, was the foundation of all these pieces.

The reception to my drawing was varied... amongst the employees of the institution. Some were praising the work, and others were horrified by them. According to the feedback I have received, my four small drawings (below) were the "worst" ones. They clearly believed the pasients surroundings ought to be of tranquility, and not of challenge.
